Sponsored Eventers Complete Grueling Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event

The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is known for testing the mettle of the top horses and riders in eventing, and the 2021 competition was no exception. A tough track on cross-country and rainy weather caused problems for both veteran and first-time five-star riders alike. Kentucky Equine Research-sponsored eventers Buck Davidson and Dom Schramm successfully navigated the relentless cross-country terrain and difficult show-jumping course to finish the event.
Veteran rider Buck Davidson earned a top-20 finish with Carlevo and piloted Jak My Style around the gelding’s first five-star event. “He doesn’t love the soft ground,” Buck said of Carlevo in an interview with Eventing Nation. “In soft ground, it’s really hard work for him, but he kept trucking and kept trying, and I feel like he did what he could do.” Of Jak My Style, Buck said, “I’ve always believed in him. Nobody tries harder. He was amazing yesterday (on cross-country). I kicked myself, I should have gone faster, but we have a horse to go to Fair Hill with and he’s proved he can be a five-star horse.”
Buck relies on KER Sport Horse Nutrition feeds to supply optimal nutrition so his horses perform their best. “KER has always been the authority on feeding high-performance sport horses,” Buck said. “I’ve always relied on KER-formulated feeds.”
While Dom Schramm had originally planned to travel to England with Bolytair B for the Badminton Horse Trials, his plans changed when Badminton was cancelled, so the pair signed up for its second Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event. “We made it back right side up, which is always a good day!” Dom said on Facebook after completing cross-country. “Big fella pulled up great, 70 BPM heart rate and ready to go again. So lucky to ride such a great horse and grateful to all those who allow me to do it.” A handful of rails kept the pair from moving up after show jumping, “Not quite the finish I wanted. Boly was beautiful and soft and quiet when I went around to the first fence, a feeling I’ve never experienced before on him! I lost my composure, which is unfortunate because he was ready to jump well. I’ll learn from this!”
Schramm Equestrian uses diets formulated by the experts at Kentucky Equine Research to provide horses with optimal nutrition. The Schramms count on Bio-Bloom™ PS, EO-3™, Micro-Max™, Nano-E®, Restore® SR, Synovate HA®, Triacton®, and KER-formulated Legends® Feeds.
“For an event horse, Bolytair B is on the bigger side, which means we have to take extra care of his joints,” says Jimmie Schramm of Schramm Equestrian. “Synovate HA® helps us maintain and support Boly’s joint health and will help lengthen his competition career.”
