Blue Diamond Stakes Day at Caulfield Racecourse hosts not only the event’s namesake race, a $1.5 million two-year-old showcase, but also two other Group 1 races, the Oakleigh Plate and Futurity Stakes.

Tagaloa won the Blue Diamond Stakes this year. Trained by Busuttin Racing, Tagaloa was bred by Arrowfield Stud. Tagaloa becomes Arrowfield’s nineteenth G1-winning yearling sale graduate since 2013 and the sixth in the past 12 months.

Arrowfield Stud’s Dr. Mark Wylie said, “We work to keep the stallions on feeds that are as similar as possible to lessen the changes of gastric upsets.” Arrowfield Stud relies on the nutritionists from Kentucky Equine Research to keep its horses in peak performance.

Precise nutrition during pregnancy and growth provides a strong foundation for success on the track. Growth rates can be closely monitored through the use of custom software programs like KER Gro-Trac®.

Eureka breeder Scott McAlpine has had many horses pipped at the post. However, last Saturday Scott was happy to be “pipped” again, thanks to the four-year-old mare Pippie. Foaled and raised at Eureka Stud, she proved triumphant with an all-the-way victory in the prestigious Oakleigh Plate.

Kentucky Equine Research works closely with trainers to ensure optimal nutrition for performance horses. Trainer Shane Nichols relies on the expertise of the nutritionists at Kentucky Equine Research.

Shane Nichols’ five-year-old Streets of Avalon scored a wild-card entry into the All-Star Mile after a wire-to-wire win in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.
