In this seminar, Michelle will discuss common ailments in horses, many of which can be significantly improved with effective feeding management. She will identify the main causes and explain nutritional management strategies for reducing the severity and preventing recurrence, and she will also look at the role of different feedstuffs and explain how they affect each condition. Michelle will present user-friendly, practical examples of feed plans to put in place to manage these conditions.  There will be plenty of time for questions!

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Gastric ulcers and feeding management strategies
  • Causes, management and prevention of laminitis
  • Dietary management of EMS, IR and PSSM
  • Starch and sugar content of different feeds

Michelle has over 15 years of experience as Milne Feeds’ equine nutrition advisor and is committed to providing complete nutritional support to customers. She spends her time working individually with horse owners and trainers to devise the best feed plans for their horses, whether it be for the backyard pony or young, growing horses on commercial breeding farms. Michelle works closely with Kentucky Equine Research to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in equine nutrition and feeding management, and regularly travels overseas to expand her knowledge. Michelle is also currently working on bachelor’s degree in equine science.

Following the seminar will be an information session on the Future of Equestrian Sport in Western Australia presented by the CEO of Equestrian WA, Dwight Pedlow.
