Many studs partner with Kentucky Equine Research to provide their young horses with this foundation. For three of these clients, Rosemont Stud, Mill Park Stud, and Twin Hills Stud, the results were on display over the weekend.

Rosemont Stud is world-renowned for breeding top-class horses, and Hey Doc is up there with the best. The seven-year-old Duporth gelding has grown into his ability; adding his fourth Group 1 win on Friday night with the 2020 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley. “Bloody emotional, what a great old horse. He’s just been a pin-up horse for our stable,” co-trainer Calvin McEvoy said.

He is only one of six horses to have won the race more than once. Hey Doc was purchased by McEvoy Mitchell Racing for $85,000 in the 2015 Inglis Victoria Premier sales from Gnarwarre-based Rosemont Stud.

Rosemont Stud recognises the importance of ensuring  horses are in optimal condition every day they’re on the farm, which is why their equine health specialists have all of the facilities they need available to them, such as expert advice and products from Kentucky Equine Research nutritionists, including custom feeds, Equi-Jewel®, and the KER Targeted Nutrition range of supplements.

Mill Park Stud has produced countless Group 1 winners over the last couple of decades. In recent years, a new wave of talent has landed, including two other Caulfield Cup winners in outstanding mare Southern Speed, now at stud in Japan, and Fawkner, who earned nearly $4 million. They can add rising star Peltzer to this list. The So You Think colt made the $1 million Bondi Stakes a one-act affair at Randwick on Saturday. Peltzer controlled the Bondi from the beginning, before jockey Tim Clark asked him to accelerate, and he dashed away from a 2¾ lengths victory. With five wins from eight starts, this Mill Park graduate has made over $900,00 in prizemoney already.

A long-time Kentucky Equine Research client, Mill Park uses All-Phase® and Equi-Jewel® to nourish their young horses. The farm also relies upon Gro-Trac® to monitor their growth and address anomalies that may indicate increased risk for future skeletal problems or signal the need for management changes.

Cherry Tortoni has impressed in two runs this preparation and has never finished any worse than third in five career starts to date. Bred at Twin Hills Stud in Cootamundra, NSW, Cherry Tortoni showed the crowd what he could do, coming home to win the Group 2 Drummond Golf Vase at Flemington on Saturday. The Vase has proved a very useful guide to the 2500-metre Derby on the opening day of Flemington’s Melbourne Cup carnival. Twin Hills Stud ensures their mares and foals are in tip-top condition by relying on Equi-Jewel®, All-Phase®, and supplements, as well as consulting with Kentucky Equine Research nutritionists.
