In a study performed at Colorado State University, researchers evaluated a technique that could improve conception rates in subfertile mares.

Veterinarians laparoscopically applied 0.2 mg of prostaglandin E2 to the uterine tube surfaces in 28 barren mares. Twenty-four of the mares subsequently became pregnant, indicating this technique might increase the chance of a successful breeding in some horses.
