Kentucky Equine Research-sponsored eventer Maya Black was awarded the $50,000 Rebecca Broussard International Developing Rider Grant this month at the 2021 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention Year-End Awards Presentation.

The grant is awarded each year for the educational development of a rider of international quality based on eventing competition worldwide. The grant recipient is chosen by a committee based on a rider’s performance record, interview, and involvement within the eventing community. With this grant, Maya will be able to fund travel and training expenses to compete at international FEI events held outside of the United States.

Additionally, Miks Master C, the 9-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding owned by Laurie Cameron and ridden by Maya, ranked ninth on the USEA Horse of the Year leaderboard for 2021. Currently competing at the Advanced/CCI4* level, Miks Master C had an outstanding year winning the CCI3*-S at Maryland International, the CCI4*-S at Rebecca Farm, and finishing second in the CCI4*-S at Morven Park Fall International.

Maya uses Restore® SR, Nano-E®, and MFM Pellet™ for the horses in her barn. “I started my horses on KER Restore SR electrolytes this spring, and I have been very happy with how they have been staying hydrated. The boys both had great CBC panels when we arrived out in Montana for Rebecca Farm. We did not have to give them fluids at all, and they drank well even with so many days of driving and showing.”
