After years of brush fires and torrential rain, the sun shined brightly on Tonimbuk International Horse Trials, highlighting a fantastic competition that included top placings by Kentucky Equine Research-sponsored riders.

Megan Jones took several horses to the event. Kirby Park Impress (Candy) won the CCI4*S with a fantastic score of 27 after dressage. Bush covered a lot of the cross-country track, but this didn’t deter Candy. “She covers so much less ground than other horses, as she turns up short and turns away from fences fast. She felt amazing!” commented Megan.

Two other mounts, Guhr (Barbie) and Toulando (Lando), were both in the CCI2*S, placing fourth and sixth. “I have to be very careful of jumping time faults as Barbie always jumps so large, though it’s a good problem to have.” Both Lando and Barbie were so much stronger and fitter than the last competition in December, according to Megan.

Megan relies on KER B-Quiet®, EO-3™, Equi-Jewel®, EquiShure®, Hemabuild®, Nano-E®, Preserve®, and Restore® Powder and Paste to provide science-based nutritional support to her top-level horses.

Jaimie Stitchel also made the trek from South Australia with two horses, New World Rolls Royce (Rolly) in the CCI3* and Minx GHP (Mouse) in the EvA95.

With only a few competitions last year, Jaimie noted, “Rolly is feeling so strong and fit, and I’m really looking forward to competing with him this year.” Finishing up sixth from some time faults cross-country, Jaimie is looking towards Melbourne 3DE in June. “When we get home, I am going to talk to the KER nutritionist and review the horses’ diets so they are getting everything they need to succeed this year.”

Jaimie uses EquiShure®, EO-3™, Perform®, Neigh-Lox®, and Restore® Paste.

For our local team, Spring Creek Equine, Samantha Cesnik had three horses in three classes. Graftango placed third in the CIC1*. “I’m so pleased with how Graftango felt during cross-country, and I’m going to upgrade to 2* at our next event,” Sam said. Gioanni Georgio, placed sixth in the EvA80 after only a few starts. Quick Justice couldn’t quite cope with the kangaroos jumping past during his cross-country warm-up, so Sam took it slow over the EvA95 course to ensure a happy round.

Spring Creek Equine recommends and uses Triacton®, Neigh-Lox®, and Equi-Jewel®.
