Knowing your horse’s weight is important, not only from a nutritional standpoint, but also from a health and welfare perspective. Dewormers and other common medications are often dispensed based on body weight. While an electronic scale provides the most accurate weight, weigh tapes are also useful tools.

Fine-tune your weight-guessing skills by determining how much each of these Appaloosas weighs. A short description of each horse is included. You’ll find the answers at the end of the article.

Horse 1: 1,175 lb (534 kg)

Horse 2: 1,155 lb (525 kg)

Horse 3: 1,245 lb (566 kg)

Horse 4: 1,250 lb (568 kg)
